Lancashire Highways Chief orders report

Tim Ashton, the man in charge of Lancashire Highways says he is ‘absolutely sure’ that the number of speed cameras on the county’s roads will be cut.
However he ruled out switching them off (as in Oxfordshire, which turned theirs off on Sunday) saying that he has asked for officers to justify that each camera is working to slow traffic and reduce accidents, not just there to make money.    Cameras raised over £2 million in 2008/09.
So, sounds like some good news for drivers, but remember, the cameras are still out there, and it is illegal to exceed the speed limit.  Limits are there to protect drivers and pedestrians, so drive carefully.
